GBIO: a new framework for developments in biodiversity informatics

02 / 10 / 2013, GBIF

A meeting in Copenhagen in 2012, attended by 100 experts in the field of Biodiversity and Biodiversity Informatics, has resulted into a vision for the coming decades: the Global Biodiversity Informatics Outlook (GBIO).

How can, by using open data and strong computing power, scienctific practice be improved, well-informed decisions be made, and a more sustainable green future be safeguarded? The GBIO report provides an idea of the current gaps in our knowledge, the areas within biodiversity studies and the course for new actions, developments and research. The report is the starting point for a series of successive activities, the accompanying website shows the progress made within each area. The GBIO report can also be downloaded from this site.
