Training hackaton: create your own national biodiversity checklist from GBIF data
With so many open biodiversity data ready available online, it is now possible to generate species checklists for a country or a certain region with the use of common methods and procedures.
The Catalogue of Life (CoL) provides access to 1.6 million species names. GBIF counts over 500 million records of plant and animal species from all over the globe. In this hackaton GBIF participants will learn how to use these available resources to generate species checklists that can serve as a basis for national checklists. This hackaton is part of the GBIF Capacity Enhancement Support Programme and in principal only accessible for GBIF participants.
