As a relict from previous project activities NLBIF happens to have several copies of the publication "Digital Imaging of Biological Type Specimens - A Manual of Best Practice" available for free.
This book, edited by C.L. Häuser, A. Steiner, J. Holstein and M.J. Scoble in 2005, is describing state of the art techniques and addresses a number of important issues about the digital imaging of biological objects. It gives practical information on the digitisation process, depending on the type of specimens you are handling. The manual is the result of two international workshops organised by the European Network for Biodiversity Information (ENBI), and GBIF. Please e-mail the NLBIF secretariat for your free printed paperback copy.
