Great grey shrike counts shared through GBIF

Project type:
Data project
15 / 10 / 2015 to 20 / 12 / 2015

Each year a limited number of great grey shrike winter in the Netherlands and every year these visitors are counted by volunteers representing different organisations.

Since 2007 the Dutch citizen science organisation collects great grey shrike data from so called simultaneous counts, two standardised count sessions each winter so that birds occasionally passing by and wanderers are being excluded. By performing these stadardised counts each year, fluctuations and trends can easily be traced. Counts from a number of years are now made available through GBIF for scientific and public use.
