Reproduction and Morphohlogy of the Travancore Tortoise (Indotestudo travancorica) Boulenger, 1907
The most threatened chelonians occur in Asia, where virtually all species are heavily harvested for food and traditional medicinal trades (van Dijk et al. 2000). This includes the two endemic chelonians, Indotestudo travancorica, and the sympatric Vijayachelys silvatica in the Region of the Western Ghats, South India. Indotestudo travincorica is listed as Vulnerable under the IUCN Red List, and comes under Schedule IV of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act.
